Paediatric Nursing
Two Paediatric Major Trauma courses are provided by Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. These courses are open to nurses from both the Peninsula and Severn Trauma Networks. The courses are:
Level 1 Paediatric Major Trauma Nursing
This study day provides an introduction to paediatric major trauma for nursing staff and includes:
- Overview of Major Trauma Networks
- The influence of human factors on teamwork
- ABCDE of paediatric major trauma care
- Trauma skills stations
- Trauma simulations
Paediatric Enhanced Major Trauma Nursing
This study day is aimed at nursing staff with a minimum of two years nursing experience within an Emergency Department who have an interest in developing their understanding of and skills within, Paediatric Major Trauma. Topics include:
- Advanced airway skills
- Neuro-assessment/spinal shock
- Bereavement and organ donation
- Burns
- Human factors elements of senior nurse role
- Trauma simulations
- Wellbeing
